Posted on June 4, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

The odds are against you as a singer if you attempt to pull off the Neil Young signature whine-and-pine style of vocalizing. … read more

Review: Wolf People – Fain

Posted on June 7, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Before you press play, grab your ganj (if that’s what you’re into). Heavy, psychedelia-infused blues are contrasted perfectly with warbling vocals, creating an alternate reality of dangerous, body-molding maestros. … read more

Review: Young Galaxy – Ultramarine

Posted on June 7, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

When I heard “Pretty Boy,” the first single from Young Galaxy’s fourth release, Ultramarine, I anxiously awaited tuning my ears into the rest of the album. Posted on July 31, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Woah. The profundity in which I used the F-word to describe this band just blew my Mormon brain. But, it works.  … read more

Reviews: Altars – Paramnesia

Posted on September 5, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Australia’s Altars follow leads like Portal’s weird atmospheres and the heavy guitar layering of Ulcerate, and most likely not even intentionally build on both of those elements.  … read more

Posted on September 5, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

This record is billed as “A Celebration of Ancient Roman Jewish Music and The Italian Resistance Movement.” Yet it avoids feeling like an academic historical musical exercise. … read more
